Can my guinea pig stay if they have a medical condition?

Yes! We are able to accommodate guinea pigs that require medication or has special needs. If you have a special needs guinea pig you would like to be boarded contact peanutbutterpigs.gpr@gmail.com with the details of their condition and the treatment they will require. All special needs pigs must have seen a vet and have officially prescribed medication. Any guinea pigs without vet records & instructions for medication will not be allowed to board.

Will my pig be housed with your rescues?

Although they will be in the same room your piggies will not be housed with our rescues due to the unknown status of some of our rescues health. Still your piggy will be able to talk to our other little potatoes so they are never lonely and they will get plenty of attention from us!

How do we prevent your piggy from catching anything from our rescue piggies or previous boarders?

Here at PeanutButterPigs Guinea Pig Rescue we take health very seriously! Here are some ways we prevent the spread of any sickness!

  • All cages are disinfected prior to your guinea pigs stay & left for a week for any bacteria to die off.
  • All fleece bedding is disinfected with a natural vintager solution, sun bleached and washed to provide proper disinfection.
  • When handling or giving food gloves are always worn.
  • When cuddling with your pigs we change our clothes & wash our hands.

Does this seem overboard? Absolutely! The spread of any sickness is very rare but we are dedicated to keeping your piggy as safe & Healthy as possible during their stay!

Please note: Some sicknesses occur naturally due to environmental factors (ex. lice frequently comes from hay) or a weakened immune system (which can be caused by the stress of a new environment). So PeanutButterPigs Guinea Pig Rescue is unable to guarantee your guinea pig unsusceptible of common ailments.

Can I bring any items for my guinea pig(s)?

To avoid any lost property we ask that you do not bring any washable items. However you are welcome to bring houses, water bottles, hammock holders ect. to make your guinea pigs environment to look as close to home as possible.

We ask that any property you bring be properly adorned with a name.

Do you only board guinea pigs?

No! We are happy to board hamsters as well as long as their cage is transported with them.

Previous happy boarders!
